报告简介:

A variety of computational models are available for simulating concrete. However, the quasi-brittle behavior and uncertainty of concrete can easily challenge any continuum-based constitutive model that relies on plasticity theories. Recent studies have demonstrated that discrete numerical tools can be effective in simulating failure and fracture of concrete-like materials in scenarios where continuum-based constitutive models are inadequate. This lecture will discuss the concept of a novel 3D discrete element, which can be incorporated into so-called Rigid Body Spring Models (RBSM) discrete element, in order to simulate the Compressive Damage Zone theory. A number of different simulation techniques will be challenged in order to simulate a non-uniform straining case in a uniaxial compression test of concrete. The outcomes will be discussed and compared with the strain field obtained from the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique.

报告人简介:

Dr Saeid Mehrpay is a postdoctoral researcher at Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Durability for Marine Civil Engineering at Shenzhen University. He received his PhD in 2020 from Hokkaido University in Engineering and Policy for Sustainable Environment under supervision of Professors Tamon Ueda and Kojji Matsumoto. His main field of research is on discrete numerical approach for simulation of failure of concrete-like materials.
